Summer Seminar

The Neuwaldegg Institute
August 10th - 17th, 2008
Castle Neuwaldegg, Vienna, Austria

The Neuwaldegg Summer Seminar is the annual signature conference of the Neuwaldegg Institute.  This week-long learning experience is designed to focus the attention of participants from a variety of fields upon key ideas and concepts that are fundamental to every free society.  A team of professors with expertise in different aspects of philosophy will present a wide array of issues to stimulate reflection on the key elements of a stable democracy and genuine freedom.

If selected, Neuwaldegg Institute will pay for your lodging, food and the cost of the lectures for the ENTIRE WEEK!!

Students from 28 countries of Central and Eastern Europe are invited to participate in this year's seminar.  Students from a variety of departments including psychology, philosophy, politics, business, law, and medicine are encouraged to apply.  We also strongly encourage professors and assistant professors to apply.  The wide range of academic disciplines and nationalities will ensure a productive discussion of how these principles should be applied in contemporary circumstances.  There will be ample opportunity for interaction of various kinds with the professors and visiting speakers throughout the week of the seminar.

The four-course format is as follows:

  • Ethics
  • Bio-ethics
  • Political Philosophy
  • Metaphysics
